Tugun Family Medical centre was started by Dr David Noble in 1978. He was joined in 1987 by Dr Don MacGeachy and as the practice expanded Dr Darryl Smith joined in 1991. After the death of Dr Noble in 1999, Dr Mark Whillans joined the practise followed shortly after by Darryl's wife, Dr Marg Smith. Dr Marion Evans has been working part time since 2005 and in Sept 2013, Dr Jeff Pittman joined our team of doctors.

In January 2015 Dr Darryl and his wife Margaret retired to enjoy more time with their new grandchildren and we have now four new Doctors, Dr Nadine Canning , Dr Ross Stinton and Dr Evan Ackerman..In 2018, Dr Sam Tiley has also joined the practice as a GP registrar.

At Tugun Family Medicine we work as a team. With our fully equipped medical centre in Tugun we provide all aspects of General Practice and pride ourselves in delivering quality medicine at an affordable price.

Dr Donald MacGeachy

BSC MBchB DRACOG 

After graduating from Edinburgh University in 1982, Donald spent a year working in cardiology and plastic surgery in Scotland. Emigrating to Australia in 1983, he spent four years working at Rockhampton Base Hospital. A resident of Tugun since 1986, his special interests include Bio-identical hormones, anti-ageing medicine and skin cancer surgery.

Dr Mark Whillans

MBBS QLD FRACGP

Mark graduated from the University of Queensland in 1990 and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1996. Coming to the medical centre in Tugun in 1999, he works full time with a keen interest in dermatology.

Dr Samantha Tiley

Dr Nadine Canning

MBBS QLD

Nadine is a local girl who attended High school in Lismore. She graduated as a doctor from Griffith University in 2010 and joined Tugun Family Medicine in January 2015 as a GP registrar. She enjoys all aspects of General practice and is currently working full time in the practice. She  enjoys Surf Life Saving in her spare time and competes on a regular basis in Surf Carnivals.

Dr Marian Evans

With 30 years as a General Practitioner, Marian works part-time and has a keen interest in women’s health and female menopause.

Dr Evan Ackerman

MBBS Qld

Evan moved to the Gold Coast several years ago after running a very successful Multi Doctor practise in Warwick. He works part time in the practise on Monday and Friday mornings.

Dr Ross Stinton

MBBS BSc. QLD

Ross graduated from the University of Queensland in 1976. He has recently joined Tugun Family Medicine in August 2014. Prior to this he owned and operated his own General Practise in Beenleigh for 30 years. He is experienced in all aspects of General Practice and works  4 days a week at Tugun Family Medicine. He is a champion Long Board surfer and enjoys getting out in the Surf when he is not working in his capacity as a doctor.

Dr Jeffrey Pitman

MBBS QLD FRACGP

Jeffrey graduated from the University of Queensland and was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1995. Working full-time, he has many years experience in hospitals and urban General Practice.

Samantha joined Tugun Family Medicine in January 2018 as a GP register. She graduated from Griffith University in 2013. She enjoys all aspects of General Practise and has a keen interest in Women's and Children's health.

Fees


  • All consultations attract a private fee
  • Refundable amount attracted at any Medicare office or after consultation electronically through our surgery
  • Reduced fee for Children(14 and under), Pensioner and Health Care card holders - must be in date at time of consultation
  • Home visits attract a private fee - except under certain circumstances (regular visits etc)
  • Payment appreciated at time of consultation
  • Mastercard, Visa, EFTPOS, cheque, cash
  • All fees obtainable on the wall behind the reception desk or upon request
